Getting There
So we must be sounding like a broken record by now, but its the Bruce Highway that will get you to Bowen when travelling along the Queensland coast. Bowen is about a 2.5-3hr drive south of Townsville and a 13-14hr drive north of Brisbane and Mackay is about 2hrs south of Bowen. All the east coast coach services will run services that go through Bowen!
Accommodation
Bowen has it all, backpackers hostels, motels, hotels, farm stays, camping and caravan parks, so everything except the Hilton! The nearest major airports are in north in Townsville and south in Mackay, both approximately 200km away.
