Within close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, Mackay is a great place to do harvest work. It’s a sugar cane area and some of the work involve operating heavy machinery therefore having a HC or UD license will give you the edge. ( Heavy Combination (HC) and Undefined (UD) licence) We’ve heard that some employers are willing to train you on site if your in it for the long run.

Mackay is just about half way up the Bruce Highway, 1000km north of Brisbane and 750km south of Cairns. Bus and rail services also service the east coast or you can fly in directly to Mackay.

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work.
