Getting There

Emerald is about 3hrs inland from Rockhampton accessible via the Capricorn Highway. Paradise coaches run buses from Mackay and Rockhampton to Emerald.

Accommodation

You can find accommodation where you work, on farm stays, caravan parks and the backpackers hostel. There is also motel and hotel accommodation available. The nearest airports are Rockhampton and Mackay, about 3 and 4 hour drives away.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

Emerald is a large modern country town located about 270km inland from the coast. Popular activities include off road driving, fishing, canoeing, camping, birdwatching and water skiing. Have a beer with the locals, always a good laugh! There is also nice Botanical Gardens, the Emerald Railway station and check out sunflower painting and the fossilised wood!
