A 30 minute drive north of Brisbane, Caboolture is strawberry picking country. Known as one of Australia’s largest strawberry picking regions you will find planting and picking work from March – November. There is an airfield so in town, so make sure you go gliding or sky diving, which is always good fun!

Getting There

The story of Queensland driving is the Bruce Highway and it doesn’t change here. Take it 30 minutes north from Brisbane or 45 minutes south from the Sunshine Coast. If your not driving you will be able to get a bus to Caboolture no worries !

There are also daily bus (Greyhound & HACC) and train (CountryLink) services that take you right to Narrabri.

By plane, Aeropelican operates a twice daily service each way between Sydney and Narrabri from Sunday to Friday and one service each way on Saturdays. The travel time by plane is approximately one hour.

Accommodation

As this town is a major tourism hotspot, there’s a wide variety of of accommodation in town with hotels, motels, caravan parks, guest houses and a backpacker hostel.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

As mentioned earlier sky diving and gliding would be a great experience! Bribie island is nearby with good fishing, surfing, national parks & reserves. Just off the coast of Bribie their is a Marine Sanctuary that is home to dolphins, turtles and many birds. Otherwise you got either way along the Bruce!

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work. Some regional locations and jobs are ineligible which could lead to the Department of Immigration rejecting your application. So remember to confirm whether or not your fruit picking or harvest job will count towards the Second Australian WHV.
