Referred to as the “Heart of the Scenic Rim”, Boonah is located 90km from Brisbane and 100km the Gold Coast. One of the most attractive areas in South East Queensland you will find yourself amongst rugged mountains, beautiful lakes and 7 picturesque national parks. Bonnah is know for providing employment in harvesting, packaging and processing produce along with fruit picking the wide array of fruits and vegetables. Much of this produce will make it to the Brisbane markets for sale.

Getting There

A  hour’s drive from Brisbane, and one and a half hour’s drive from the Gold Coast, Boonah is easily accessible. You will be heading inland and the drive can be quite scenic so make sure you keep an eye on the road!

Accommodation
There is ample accommodation in Boonah including, caravan parks, motels, hotels, farm stays, lodges, cabins even resorts and retreats! Due to its scenic reputation many couples escape Brisbane and the Gold coast for romantic get aways! Don’t worry though, fruit pickers are looked after as well! There are 7 national parks in close proximity,  Mount French, Mount Maroon and Cunninghams, Mount Edwards, The Head, Mount Greville and Spicers Gap. The nearest airport is in Brisbane, 105km away.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

You will have heaps of things to do in your spare time including scenic drives, horse riding, bushwalking, mountaineering, sky diving, gliding and water sports. There’s some really nice picnic spots, and some great , camping areas, rock climbing,  national parks,
balloon flights and water activities to keep you occupied.

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work. Some regional locations and jobs are ineligible which could lead to the Department of Immigration rejecting your application. So remember to confirm whether or not your fruit picking or harvest job will count towards the Second Australian WHV.
