Trangie is a small rural town known for it’s large cotton production. Farm work is on offer from late March to May, where you will most likely find yourself picking cotton.
 

Population: Approx 5,000, however the shire is home to 28,000.

Getting There

From the Sydney Opera house the drive should take about 6hrs along the Castlereagh Highway. The nearest major town is Dubbo, just under an hours drive away from Trangie. You can get to Dubbo daily, via bus,train or air.

 

Accommodation

Ideal fruit picking accommodation will be staying on the farm you work at, otherwise there’s caravan parks, hotels and motels in Trangie.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

Have a beer with the locals, that will be a good laugh. Otherwise check out the soldiers memorial.

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work. Some regional locations and jobs are ineligible which could lead to the Department of Immigration rejecting your application. So remember to confirm whether or not your fruit picking or harvest job will count towards the Second Australian WHV.
