You’re in cherry country now,Young is known as the cherry picking capital of Australia. You may also find jobs fruitpicking grapes, berries, stone fruits or vine pruning. Remember to visit the annual cherry festival,a must see when in the picturesque Hilltops food and wine region.

Getting There

From Sydney its a 4hr drive and about 7hrs from Melbourne, both along the Hume Highway.
 

Accommodation

You will find a backpackers hostel in Young along with a caravan park. Of course their are motels and hotel options. The nearest major airport is also in Sydney.

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work. Some regional locations and jobs are ineligible which could lead to the Department of Immigration rejecting your application. So remember to confirm whether or not your fruit picking or harvest job will count towards the Second Australian WHV.

    I am looking at maybe getting a picking job for cherries for the up coming season.

    can you please advise who I need to call in regards to getting work. Do i nbeed to contact specifc farmers, or do I need to just go to centrelink nin the town. How does it work? Also where can I live whilst doing such work?

    I look forward to any info you may have about this
