The Sunshine Coast is a large region, known for it’s great weather and laid back lifestyle it’s a must visit when in Australia. Fruit picking wise the regions is known for its Pineapple, Strawberry crops along with ginger and apple picking opportunities. There’s so much going on in the Sunny Coast, a beach lifestyle with a taste of the city. The larger districts in the region include: Maroochydoore, Mooloolaba, Noosa & Caloundra.

Getting There

The Sunny Coast is about an hour north of Brisbane, just take the Bruce Highway and you will be sweet. Heaps of buses and trains connect to the region and local transport is good.

Accommodation

There are many accommodation options including backpackers hostels, caravan parks, camping, and of course hotels and motels. If you have a car and work is near town student accommodation could also be an option. There is a local airport as well, so you can fly direct to the Sunshine Coast.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

There’s a lot activites to get involved in, surfing, fishing, tennis, golf are great outdoor activities. Visit Under Water World, the Big Pineapple, Australia zoo and don’t forget the Sunshine Coast Brewery! No trip is complete to the sunny coast without a trip to the Sunny Coast Brewery! Many beers off tap and they now have a new restaurant in town!

Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa

Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work. Some regional locations and jobs are ineligible which could lead to the Department of Immigration rejecting your application. So remember to confirm whether or not your fruit picking or harvest job will count towards the Second Australian WHV.
